1000 Reasons why I Am Grateful

The month of November is most famous for the compulsive overeater’s one day of guiltless gluttony. Yes of course I am talking about Thanksgiving. Ignore the Christmas decorations in all of the stores. November is dedicated to Thanksgiving.

Some of you love this holiday, some of you have to be drunk and medicated to spend the whole day with your family, and yes a small number of you protest this holiday because of the shady origins. I am not getting into all of that.

I am making this month about Thanksgiving, giving thanks, being grateful for my life. I spend most of my time on this blog complaining and making fun of the events and people in my life. This month I am dedicated to write a list of 1,000 things that I am grateful about by Thanksgiving. That’s 41 things a day.

Things that I am grateful for…

1. Nature forcing us to be together in a quiet, TV, telephone, computer, Wii, free home.

2. For the beautiful snow covered trees. heavy and white with still with their fall leaves.

3. Using a manual saw and feeling like Wonder Woman sawing up firewood for my family.

4. Being surrounded by beauty in the woods behind my house.

5. Having a light and warm winter jacket.

6. Being in the dark with my kids and playing by candlelight.

7. Making a fire with wood that I cut down myself.

8. The beautiful smell of a fire

9. Knowing that I can take care of my family without the help of a man.

10. Knowing that if I ever need help I can count on a loving husband.

11. Reading Harry Potter in a warm bed by battery powered tea lights.

12. Driving by the school and finding the huge old tree in the court yard unharmed.

13. Warm stores that are open to buy supplies for our powerless home

14. Getting our power back on after only 2 days while other are still in the dark.

15. Eating fresh local apples and sharp cheddar cheese

16. Warm weather

17. Lovely generous neighbors who help each other during hard times.

18. Halloween candy. I know that you are bad for me but I love you.

19. My hair. I love the way it looks today.

20. Nice People who give kid’s kind words and candy.

21. My daughter agreeing to wear leggings and a long sleeve shirt under her short, sleeveless Rapunsel costume

22. The Letter “z” on my keyboard now that the kids have broken you I truly appreciate you more than I ever have in my life.

23. Spellcheck

24. Spellcheck is the only way I can make the letter z.

25. By misspelling a word like size (sise) Spellcheck gives me a z! Thank you!

26. The times that my husband gets that look in his eyes like he wants to correct me for my latest blunder and simply smiles at me instead.

27. For my husband’s patience & consistent love. I do have a nasty streak. 

28. The sound of my daughter’s giggle

29. Walmart for having a red Angry Bird Outfit for my son

30. The fact that a few people knew who he was dressed up as

31. Warm fluffy socks

32. The pumpkin carved like an Angry bird on the nice man’s porch

33. A bowl of candy with a note that says “take 3” that is only half empty at 7:30pm on Halloween night.

34. To the person who designed a beret that looks like a pumpkin in adult sizes.

35. To the makers of the Subaru Outback.

36. That my kid’s biggest worries & complaints are actually so trivial.

37. For my close friends. My soul sisters. I am thankful for you every day, even though I never call.

38. That my mom is only a phone call away

39. That we can afford to restock our fridge

40. Hot showers

41. Eucalyptus scented shampoo and conditioner
